Podcaster, influencer and COVERGIRL ambassador Ellidy Pullin knows the way to glow. Here, she shares the secrets behind her effortless beauty approach with Cosmopolitan Australia.

Beauty According To... Ellidy Pullin

Cosmopolitan Australia: What does beauty mean to you?
Ellidy Pullin:
To me, beauty should be uncomplicated—ageing is a gift and the more I work with my natural features, rather than trying to change them, the more simple my beauty regimen is and the more confident I feel. I’ve been through periods of cystic acne and when I tried to cover my face in a thick mask of foundation, it always made me feel even more self conscious (perhaps that was my application skills too, haha). But when I started doing more minimal coverage and letting the breakouts breathe, I felt a lot cleaner and more confident, like I wasn’t trying to hide. I was more just “Hey, here I am, in my acne era!”

Cosmo: What’s the hardest-working product in your makeup bag?
Ellidy: I’m not kidding when I tell you that my COVERGIRL Yummy Gloss is permanently attached to my hand. It’s infused with hyaluronic acid so it hydrates the lips too. My equal fave would be my COVERGIRL Clean Fresh Brow Gel that lives in my car console so I can brush my brows into place and feel put together while I’m on the go.

Cosmo: Expensive vs.affordable beauty—does price matter?
Ellidy: You honestly don’t need to break the bank to get good quality makeup products. Some of my favourite products are from pharmacy brands and are infused with amazing skincare ingredients. COVERGIRL is clean, vegan, cruelty- free and so affordable—there’s nothing they don’t have. But also, my tip: drink plenty of water to help your skin stay hydrated and glow. It’s free!

Cosmo: How do you create your effortless makeup look?
Ellidy: Fewer products that do more. Mostly, I focus on my brows and lips. This is new for me and I’m loving it. I used to concentrate so much more on foundation; I would overdo it and be obsessed with my face looking tanned all the time. Since laying off that, I can tell in photos lately that my features pop so much when I keep it super basic: a lick of lip gloss, gel on the brows, a bit of concealer for the bags if my toddler has kept me up all night, and mascara if I remember. Boom!

Cosmo: What are the best multitasking COVERGIRL products to use if we only have five mins to get ready in the morning?

  1. Clean Fresh Brow Gel—tidy brows make me feel like a less chaotic, put-together Mum.
  2. Yummy Gloss—I’m far from a pink girl but I’m loving a pink gloss at the moment.
  3. Clean Invisible Powder—it gives that slight shimmery finish.
  4. Cleantopia Mascara—it’s not clumpy, which is hard to find in a mascara.

Cosmo: If you could choose one everyday-wear lip product, what would it be?
Ellidy:
You’re probably getting sick of me carrying on about the COVERGIRL Yummy Gloss, so if I had to choose a second one it would be the new COVERGIRL Clean Lip Colour. I’m not usually a lipstick girl but if I’m going out at night, these are so comfortable on the lips, and carmine-free (which means no crushed beetles!).

Cosmo: Are soap/lamination brows still trending?
Ellidy: Hard yes for me! But I don’t go to the salon for that anymore; I just achieve the look with the COVERGIRL Clean Fresh Brow Gel. That way you can conquer the electrocuted brow effect if you must, or the more natural, feathery look. I’m somewhere in-between the two.

Cosmo: What are three essentials you need in your makeup bag?
Ellidy: Yummy Gloss, Brow Gel, Cleantopia Mascara.
